Shamp uses one cookie, to keep you signed in, and keeps a few small things in your browser so it works the way you left it. There are no advertising or tracking cookies, and our page-view counter uses no cookies at all. Because everything here is needed for Shamp to work, Shamp does not show a cookie banner.
The cookie
| Name | What it is for | How long |
|---|---|---|
| shamp_session | Keeps you signed in. It holds your username and a signature that proves it came from us; it cannot be read by Shamp's pages' scripts. | 120 days, or until you sign out |
What Shamp keeps in your browser
| Name | What it is for | How long |
|---|---|---|
| theme | Whether you chose light or dark. | Until you clear it |
| shamp.announce.closed | An announcement you closed, so it does not come back. | Until you clear it |
| shamp.live.closed | A Shamp Live notice you closed. | Until you clear it |
| shamp.return | Where you were on a page when you opened a post, so Back takes you there. | Until you close the tab |
If you turn on notifications or install Shamp on your phone, your browser also keeps Shamp's small notification worker, which only receives the signal that something happened.
Your choices
You can clear cookies and stored data in your browser's settings at any time. Clearing the session cookie signs you out; clearing the rest only resets the choices above.
