Terms of use

Shamp is a social network for innovators, entrepreneurs and changemakers, at shamp.goimpactnow.org and in the Shamp app. It is run by goimpactnow, a brand of Truthsprout Network ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using Shamp, you agree to these terms, to the house rules and to the way we handle information described in the privacy policy.

1. Your account

• You must be at least 16 years old to use Shamp.
• One person, one personal account. An organisation account must be run by someone who is allowed to speak for that organisation.
• Tell the truth about who you are. Do not pretend to be another person or organisation, or suggest you are connected to one when you are not.
• Keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens on your account. If you think someone else has got into it, change your password; that signs every other device out.

2. What you post

What you write and upload stays yours. So that we can run Shamp, you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free permission to store it, show it on Shamp, include it in feeds, search, notifications, link previews and images people save of a post, and let other members reply to it, react to it, repost it and share it. This permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies other members made through Shamp's own features (a repost with their thoughts, for example), backups that are overwritten over time, and anything we must keep by law.

Only post what you have the right to post. Do not post other people's private information.

3. What you must not do

• Break the house rules or the law.
• Ask anyone for money to apply for, secure or "process" an opportunity, or post one that does.
• Harass, threaten or demean anyone, or post hate against people for who they are.
• Spam, run fake accounts, buy or sell followers or reactions, or use automation beyond normal use of the site.
• Scrape Shamp, get around its limits, checks or moderation, or try to break or overload it.
• Upload anything harmful to other people's devices.

4. Opportunities, links and advice

Shamp is a place to talk. We do not run the opportunities people share, and what members write is their own view. Always check the details, deadlines and eligibility on the official page before you apply or act, and never pay a fee to anyone who says they can get you an opportunity. A link marked "Link not checked yet" has not been looked at by us; one that opens has been checked as the right site, which is not a promise about everything on it.

5. Moderation

We look for scams, fees, spam and abuse, and some posts wait for a person to read them before they appear. We can hold, remove or restore posts and replies, remove links and pictures, and limit, suspend or close accounts that break these terms or the house rules. Each cause can have moderators: members we appoint who can remove posts and replies in that cause and pin a post to its top. Everything they do is recorded, and we can reverse it. If you think we got something wrong, tell us.

6. Badges, standing and promotions

A verified badge means we checked who an account belongs to, nothing more. Standing and badges like Ambassador or Shampion describe what someone has done on Shamp; we can change or remove them. Promoted posts and adverts are labelled as such; the people behind them are responsible for what they offer.

7. Messages and Shamp Live

Messages are private between the people in the conversation, but they are kept on our servers and are not end-to-end encrypted. We may look at a conversation when it is reported, or when we must by law. Shamp Live sessions take place on the meeting service the host chose, under that service's own terms.

8. Shamp's name and design

The Shamp name, logo, design and software belong to us. You may not use them in a way that suggests we endorse you, without asking us first.

9. Copyright and other complaints

If something on Shamp uses your work without permission, or breaks the law in another way, write to us with a link to it, what the problem is, and how we can reach you. We act on clear, complete reports, and may pass them to the person who posted the content.

10. Leaving

You can delete your account at any time in Settings. Your profile, email, password, notifications and phone notification settings are removed. Your username stays reserved so that no one else can take it and appear to have written what you wrote. Your posts stay up unless you choose to hide them when you delete. We may close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms.

11. Our responsibility

We work to keep Shamp running and safe, but we provide it as it is, without promising it will always be available or free of mistakes, and we are not responsible for what members post or for decisions you make because of it. As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or unexpected losses from using Shamp. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under the consumer law where you live.

12. Changes

We may change these terms. When we do, the date at the top changes, and for important changes we will tell you on Shamp before they apply. If you keep using Shamp after that, the new terms apply.
