Read the eligibility twice before you write anything. Most rejected applications are not weak, they are ineligible, and nobody tells you which one yours was.

On networking or leadership questions: they are not asking whether you know important people. They are asking whether you build relationships deliberately and what came of it. A small example with a real outcome beats a big name.

Work experience requirements are often counted more generously than they read. Internships, self-employment and unpaid work frequently qualify. Ask them rather than ruling yourself out.
